High visibility - high impact opportunity, with an outstanding hedge fund manager, that is looking to build out greater quantitative capabilities to enhance their existing fundamental approach to investing.
This will be the funds first Quantitative hire and is positioned directly with the Head of Trading and a Founding Partner/Portfolio Manager, responsible for public equity hedge fund strategies, such as event-driven, special situations and L/S equities.
This Hedge Fund uses a deeply fundamental approach to L/S investing with a concentrated portfolio, however, they have developed a basic quantitative research and portfolio management process, as an additional reference point. As the primary Quantitative Researcher and Data Scientist at the fund, you will become responsible for building out more sophisticated research, analytics, data, tools, and technology.
Quantitative horsepower is becoming increasingly critical, and desired, for the funds buy/sell decisions, trade sizing, portfolio construction, hedging and risk management, and the successful candidate will be given significant exposure, access, and responsibility for growing this area.
The current system is highly valued and utilised for three investment funds in its current form, but it has been created gradually over several years and is relatively basic. The successful Quantitative candidate will break out and adapt the functionality, optimised for each of the three funds, increase factor research and in the future transition the quant systems into the cloud, achieving better access, insights, usability, and scalability.
It is anticipated that you will have advanced Quantitative, Data Science, and Technology/programming skills, and a track record of developing quantitative investment research, analytics, and tools for equities strategies and factors (90% plus of the client´s focus).
You will have honed your skills at a leading investment bank, Equities Research firm, Hedge Fund, or Prop Trading house, focused on the production of views and further developments of systems and tools, whilst achieving Associate to Vice President level.
