​This Award-Winning Technology team designs and builds their own cutting-edge systems, from high-performance trading platforms to large scale data analysis and compute farms. The company is going through an exciting period of growth and transforming the way we run and build platforms by employing containerisation in their stack with Docker and orchestrating with Kubernetes.

To drive this transformation, we are looking for a highly skilled expert engineer to join the team to innovate, design, develop and manage solutions that will transform the development process and significantly improve production. The position is new and hence offers the chance to really make a mark in the team, and the whole firm. 

Position

  • Developing applications to build and extend our platforms

  • Owning the design, build, monitoring and expansion of the platform to help deliver a fully featured and secure platform on top of which the business can deploy any application including trading and research-critical components

  • Working closely with senior management, stakeholders, and other development teams to help define standards, best practices and aide migration and on-boarding of microservices onto the platform

  • Enhancing and orchestrating the process of deployment to Kubernetes

  • Evangelising Kubernetes as a platform, encouraging and facilitating the migration strategy

  • Evangelising and drive the adoption Container technologies

  • Evangelising and drive the adoption of various Cloud-Native technologies

  • Help maintain and develop the Linux server estate through automation

  • Create, implement and maintain global standards across the environment

  • Participate in idea creation of new technologies and improvements to existing infrastructure.

  • Evangelise the “Infrastructure as Code” mindset and methodology. Automation is king.


Skills

  • Strong automation and scripting skills (Python, bash, etc.)

  • Experience with orchestration and Kubernetes (design, implementation, internals)

  • Experience with Containers and Docker

  • Experience with the Cloud Native Ecosystem

  • Linux management and admin skills, with experience on RHEL in an enterprise environment

  • Excellent troubleshooting and fault-finding skills

  • Knowledge of system management tools, such as Cobbler, Foreman, Red Hat Satellite or equivalent

  • Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef

  • Experience or exposure to implementing distributed systems such as Hadoop / Spark / Kafka / Flink / Ignite would be highly desirable.

  • Compensation £200k-£250k per annum. (£600k-£750k over 3 years)
